I was going to write this post in August. I would have reminisced about how August always felt like the beginning of fall to me, even though it’s usually still incredibly hot and school hasn’t started yet and for all intents and purposes, it’s still summer. But as soon as that calendar flips from July to August, it just feels like summer is at an end. But I didn’t write this in August.

Then September came. That was when I was really going to talk about fall and now that school was back in session – in some form or another – and the weather was changing and hints of new colors were easing in, summer was definitely over. But time slipped away from me yet again and I didn’t write this in September.

But now it’s October and fall is most definitely here. Green is disappearing as the dominant color. Reds and oranges and yellows are everywhere. I love taking my camera out in this, in part because I know this is my last chance for bright colors before winter arrives and creates a much more muted palette.

Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. There’s something about that transition time. It can be hard to pin down exactly when they start and end. It creeps in and then before you know it, it’s surrounding you, but then you look again and it’s gone. So if you can get out there, go!

For those of you in Northeast Ohio, a few places to check out include Goodyear Heights Metro Park, Sand Run Metro Park, and Walborn Reservation. Hopefully at some point soon I’ll get around to more detailed posts on these.

In the meantime, enjoy the beauty!
